"Good afternoon!
This is less a query and more a post regarding a program that I thought might be of interest to members of the Durham-Orange Genealogical Society.
I work with the North Carolina Civil War History Center, a forthcoming historical education center based in Fayetteville that will tell the story of the Civil War and Reconstruction in North Carolina from the perspective of all North Carolinians--men and women, white and black, soldier and civilian, Confederate and unionist.
To aid us in doing so, we are asking North Carolinians to share stories of their family or community in the Civil War or Reconstruction with us.  We are, of course, interested in remarkable incidents, but are looking just as eagerly for stories of everyday life during these difficult periods.
If you'd like to submit your story, to preserve it for posterity, and to share it with a broader public, simply go to http://www.nccivilwarcenter.org/share-a-story/.  You can read submitted stories here: http://www.nccivilwarcenter.org/stories/.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at the listed address.
Best,
Robert Colby"
